Wrestling Wins Two

The Wrestling team defeated Southside High 42-22 and Eau Claire High 33-18 last night to improve to 3-0 on the season. This is the first 3-0 start in team history. Garrett Davis was voted Wrestler of the Night for the second time this season for his victories over both schools.  

Davis Finishes 3rd Place at Woodmont Tournament

Congratulations to Garrett Davis for his 3rd Place finish in the 132 lb. weight class at the Woodmont Wildcat Invitational Wrestling tournament this past weekend.  Davis had the best finish of all the Wrestling team members and was also voted Wrestler of the Night by his teammates and coaches.

Wrestling Defeats Southside High School 36-21

The Whitmire wrestling team defeated Southside High School in their season opener on Wednesday, November 29th by a score of 36-21. Terrance Gibson was voted Wrestler of the Night by his teammates and coaches. 106 – Scratch 113 – Dawson Davis (W) defeated D. Ne (S) by pinfall in the 2nd 120 – Dalton Gambrell

Five Wrestlers Qualify for State

Five members of the Wrestling team placed in the top 4 of their weight classes this weekend at the Upperstate Individual Wrestling Tournament qualifying them to compete next weekend for a state championship. Congratulations to the following state qualifiers: 113 – Garrett Davis (So.) – 3rd place 120 – Alex Swain (Sr.) – 4th place

Seven Wrestlers Earn Top 5 Seeds.

This weekend the Wrestling team will be traveling to Liberty High School again to compete in the AA/A Individual Upper-State tournament. Seven wrestlers will be stepping onto the mat with top 5 seeds. 106 – Christian McLaren – 2 seed 113 – Garrett Davis – 4 seed 120 – Alex Swain – 3 seed 138

Wrestling Team Knocked Out of Team Playoffs

The Wrestling team lost to Liberty High School in the AA Wrestling team playoffs by a final score of 51-30. The Wrestling team gave Liberty 18 of the 21 points that the team lost by due to forfeits at the 145, 170, and 220 lb. weight classes. Next up for the Wrestling team will be

The Wrestling team qualified for the AA Wrestling playoffs by being one of the top 16 teams in the Upperstate. They received a 1st round bye placing them in the top 8. The team will travel to Liberty High School on Saturday for a dual meet giving them a chance to advance to the final
