The Whitmire Wolverines defeated the McCormick Chiefs by a score of 34-22. The win guarantees the Wolverines a 2nd place finish in Region I-A and a home playoff game on November 9th. Whitmire got on the board first with 4-yard run by Senior Jaylin Brown. Christian McLaren’s PAT was good. McCromick answered with a TD and a 2-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead. Whitmire scored early in the 2nd Quarter on a 2-yard run by Senior Kyle Hunt (McLaren PAT good). The score was 14-8 at the Half. Whitmire scored on the second play of the 3rd Quarter when Jaylin Brown went 55 yards for a TD. Chandler Crumley’s conversion run was good. The Chiefs answered to close the gap to 22-14. Kyle Hunt scored again on a 10-yard sweep (conversion failed). McCormick pulled within 28-22 in the 3rd Quarter. The Wolverines iced the game when Crumley scored on a 1-yard run (Conversion no good).
Whitmire ends the regular season with a 6-3 record (3-1 in region play).
