The Varsity Baseball team lost to Dixie in Game 3 of the Upper State Playoffs by a score of 4-3. The Wolverines season ended one game shy of playing for the Upper State Championship at McBee. Starter Noah McCarley gave the Wolverines 5 strong innings on the mound giving up 3R and 3H. Wyatt Crase (0-1) took the Loss in relief. Whitmire was led by Casey Stevens at the plate (2 for 3).
The Wolverines held a 3-1 lead going into the Bottom of the 6th inning but could not hold on. Defensively, the Wolverines played a strong game.
“We battled until the final out tonight. Noah gave us a chance to win and that is all we could have asked for. I am so proud of our players and how they represented our school and community. To push farther in the playoffs than any previous team had done since the 1980s is an incredible accomplishment. They got better as the year went on from top to bottom. The coaches will never forget the ride that they took us on. We will miss the Class of 2019 tremendously! We wish them nothing but the best as they go forward. We will also be looking forward to 2020!
The Wolverines finish at 10-16.
