The Varsity Baseball team starter their Spring Break slate of games with a 7-5 win at Newberry Academy. Cason English [JR] got the start on the mound for Whitmire. Ross Williams [SO] threw 4.1 IP to get the victory. Williams (2-0) struck out 6 and only allowed 2 hits. Will Livingston [SO] got his first Save striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced in the 7th inning. Casey Stevens [SR] was 1 for 2 with 3 R at the plate. Joseph Dillard [JR] was 1 for 3 with RBI and 2 R.
“It was good to get another win. We were flat all day. Good teams find a way to be motivated. We seemed to resting on our laurels from the big win on Friday. Ross did a good job in relief. Will was lights out in the 7th inning. We need to turn up the energy the rest of the week.”
Whitmire improves to 7-4 and will travel to Clinton on Tuesday (4/6) for a JV/V doubleheader.
