The Varsity Baseball team endured a 90 minute weather delay to defeat Ware Shoals by a score of 4-1. Senior Casey Stevens (2-1) got the win for Whitmire tossing 6.1 strong innings. He allowed 1 R, 2 H, and had 9 K. Sophomore Ross Williams picked up his 1st Save of the season striking out both batters he faced. The Wolverines were led by Senior Peyton Crumpton who was 2 for 3 with a RBI.
“Tonight was a superb effort in staying focused through the weather delay. Casey did not have his best stuff, yet he carried a no-hitter into the 7th. Ross was phenomenal again. We continue to be aggressive at the plate and on the base paths, which has become our identity. We played error-free defense which was what we are looking for.”
Whitmire improves to 5-2, 2-0 in region play.
The JV and Varsity will host Mid-Carolina on Monday (3/29).
