The Lady Wolverines hosted Wagener-Salley on Wednesday for the District Championship and came away with the 7-2 victory. The win gives the Wolverines their first District Championship since 2006. Kimberly Kendrick went the distance on the mound only giving up two runs on eight hits. She was helped by excellent defense throughout the game, which ended with a Barrett Martin double play to secure the District Championship. At the Plate the Wolverines were led by Kymberlee Jenkins, Taylor Peay, and Kaylynn Roche. Jenkins was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 stolen base. Peay was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, 1 double, and 2 RBI. Roche was 2 for 3 with 1 double and 3 RBI.
Up next for the Wolverines will be a trip to the Upper state Bracket of the 1A playoffs. The Wolverines will play at Ware Shoals on Friday. This will be the first game of the Upper state Bracket. Come out and support the District Champion Wolverines as they travel to Ware Shoals.
