The Lady Wolverines traveled to McCormick to finish off the regular season region schedule and lost a closely contested game. Whitmire missed a lot of opportunities in the paint and were unable to overcome the excess free throws that McCormick was given. The girls played beautifully in the first half and were able to obtain a 10 point lead before getting sloppy with the ball and defensively to allow McCormick to crawl back in to the game before taking the lead with about two minutes to go. The girls played hard and I am extremely proud of their effort and hustle. We also shot free throws extremely well and had more assists than normal.
The Lady Wolverines were lead in scoring by Raegan Kendrick with 13. She was followed by Alexus Sanders with 12, Taylor Peay 6, Jazmine Curenton 5, Hailee Robbins 3, Chelsea Goggins 2, and Deja Livingston 2.
The Lady Wolverines were lead in rebounding by Taylor Peay with 11. Alexus Sanders added 5, Chelsea Goggins 5, Jazmine Curenton 4, Raegan Kendrick 3, Kaylynn Roche 3, Hailee Robbins 2, and Harleigh McLaren 1.
As a team, Whitmire had 14 steals (Alexus Sanders 5), 12 assists (Alexus Sanders 6), and 8 blocks (Taylor Peay 6).
The Lady Wolverines finish as the number 3 team in the region and will host a playoff game Monday, February 12th. The time and opponent will be announced at a later date.
