The Lady Wolverines hosted High Point Academy Tuesday night in a match-up of unbeatens in the region. The Lady Wolverines, unfortunately, were not able to secure the victory as turnovers and missed opportunities on the offensive side of the ball would doom them. The girls came out playing great defense and moved the ball around finding open shots, but we were unable to hit those shots which took the air out of our sails. The first quarter was stagnant between both teams, but High Point was able to make a run in the second quarter due to turnovers by the Lady Wolverines and slow defensive movement. The girls fought back in the fourth quarter, but had dug a hole that was too deep to get out of.
The Lady Wolverines were lead in scoring by Alexus Sanders and Kaylynn Roche who both had 8 points. They were followed by Taylor Peay with 3, Raegan Kendrick with 2, and Jazmine Curenton with 2.
The Lady Wolverines were lead in rebounding by Kaylynn Roche with 10. She was followed by Chelsea Goggins with 5, Raegan Kendrick and Alexus Sanders with 4, Taylor Peay 3, and Samantha Strubeck and Harleigh McLaren with 1.
Whitmire had 4 assists (Alexus Sanders 3), 10 blocks (Taylor Peay 7), and 10 steals (Raegan Kendrick 4).
The Lady Wolverines host the Lady Eagles of Newberry Academy tomorrow night with the varsity girls beginning at 6:30 pm.
