Dixie High School
Whitmire High School
The Lady Wolverines continued their season Monday night in a make-up game with Dixie. Whitmire played very well defensively and found a lot of good open shots on the offensive side of the floor, but it was just not our night as the shots would not fall. The story of the game, as it has been in the last few, is the inability to score for the girls. They are taking good shots and doing a much better job of passing the ball and finding the open player, but the ball has not bounced in our favor to this point. I am very proud of the way the girls have been playing and the fight they are showing on the court. I believe that last night was one of our better defensive games and I am hoping that we can use that to propel the offense and garner some late-season momentum.
The Lady Wolverines were led in scoring by Jazmine Curenton and Alexis Swain with 3 points each. Taylor Peay and Carmen Wessinger both added 2 and Kaylynn Roche 1.
The Lady Wolverines have struggled a bit rebounding as a team the last couple of games. We had 29 team rebounds, which is under our season average. Taylor Peay led the team with 12 and was followed by Kaylynn Roche with 8, Alexis Swain 6, Carmen Wessinger 2, and Raegan Kendrick/Alexus Sanders 1.
The Lady Wolverines had 9 steals, 3 assists, and a season low of 11 turnovers on the evening, as well.
Whitmire travels to SCSDB Tuesday to continue region play beginning at 6:00 pm.
