Whitmire High School
The Lady Wolverines traveled to McCormick to take on the Lady Chiefs in another region match-up. Although the score does not show it, I believe the girls played well. They did a good job against the press and found some really good shots, but as the trend has gone lately the shots would not fall. McCormick’s speed and transition offense was the difference in the game as they controlled the pace of the game and were able to score quickly. I am proud of the girls and their fight and ability to get better against pressure, but we have a lot to do in relation to the offensive side of the ball.
Raegan Kendrick, Kaylynn Roche, and Alexus Sanders were the leading scorers with 3 each. Taylor Peay added 2 and Jazmine Curenton 1.
The Lady Wolverines struggled rebounding against the Lady Chiefs as they only grabbed 23 total rebounds. Kaylynn Roche led the team with 8, followed by Taylor Peay with 6, Raegan Kendrick 2, Angel McCall 2, and Alexis Swain/Alexus Sanders/Chelsea Goggins/Carmen Wessinger/Jazmine Curenton 1. Taylor Peay added 6 blocks on the night. Kaylynn Roche added 2 and Alexus Sanders 1. Alexus Sanders also had 4 steals on the evening.
The Lady Wolverines continue region play Tuesday as they host Ware Shoals beginning at 6.
